Before joining Ecojustice in June 2022 Ali (he/him) was the legal counsel at Greenpeace Canada where he provided integrated campaign legal advice and support in addition to conducting legal risk assessments and developing strategic litigation. He is a graduate of Vermont Law School and has a Master in Environmental Law and Policy with a certificate in Energy Law.

Ali has also worked as staff lawyer with the Hamilton Community legal Clinic where he appeared regularly before administrative tribunals and other levels of court and engaged in community organizing, law reform and public legal education. His other legal experience includes working with the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario, the Center for Food Safety, the Sierra Club Environmental Law program and the San Francisco City Attorney’s office.

Ali is a classically trained guitarist and has performed at a number of recitals. He also enjoys long walks with his dog Bernie, hiking, camping, skiing and anything to do with the outdoors!
