Shayoni joined Ecojustice in 2021 as a Communications Specialist. She works on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver.
Shayoni has a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Pune (India) and was an Erasmus Mundus Fellow at the University of Strasbourg (2013-15) for a Master’s in International Relations. She has worked as a freelance photojournalist for several newspapers such as Indian Express, Telegraph, Times of India and DNA. She has also taught Sociology at the University of Pune and Symbiosis University specializing in Ecofeminism.
She loves walking in forests and being on open waters, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and singing, albeit off-key.
