Katie began her legal career in the field of environmental justice after graduating from McGill Law. After working for several environmental law charities in Toronto and Boston, she attended Vermont Law School, where she earned her LLM in Environmental Law.

Since 2010, Katie has worked exclusively for Indigenous Peoples in private practice and as in-house counsel to a modern treaty organization. She has worked extensively on Pre-Confederation, Historic, and Modern Treaties.

Katie represents Indigenous Nations in negotiations regarding self-government, fiscal financing, co-management, land claims, impact assessments, the development of nuclear energy projects, radioactive waste management issues, and commercial and real estate development. She has litigated before trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
