Deborah Carver is the owner and Director of Studio 21 Fine Art in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is the most significant contemporary commercial gallery in the Maritimes. Her background has embraced both the arts and environmental concerns. Deborah holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo, and an LLB from Dalhousie University. Her LLM studies at the London School of Economics focused on international and environmental law. During and after graduate school she worked part time at the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. Deborah practised law in Halifax for a 6 year period and since then has worked in diverse situations including Salter Street Films, The Independent Film Channel Canada, NSCAD University and as a consultant. She has been Executive Director and a Board member of East Coast Environmental Law Association.
Deborah is an avid explorer of the Nova Scotia coastline. She owns a property on the Province’s south shore where her family was instrumental in donating a large beach property to The Nature Conservancy of Canada.
