Economics vs Environment. Ecojustice Weighs In

Will AmosLawyer

uOttawa-Ecojustice clinic director Will Amos spoke in a panel discussion dealing with the rampant development of Alberta’s tar sands, and the environmental toll its having. Here’s a quote:

“Alberta’s oil sands are the biggest industrial undertaking Canada has ever seen. Actually, they’re the biggest industrial undertaking Earth has ever seen. As derricks pump oil from the ground, they’re also pumping money into the economy. But after the recent Gulf oil spill and its estimated $8B clean up cost, we need to ask: is Canada doing enough to safeguard the environment? Or are the people who make Canada’s environmental policies blinded by dollar signs?”
